Thanks for the heads up on those mate!

I'll flash my DS3 later, and see if it fixes anything. May as well give it a go before I package it up for RMA!

It'll be just my luck that it does after I've ordered a new Mobo!

Just flashed my DS3 with the F4c bios, and still no joy with the bios overclocking...

On a brighter note, it seems to have fixed the issue I was having with any kind of operation of my DVD drive slowing windows to a crawl. It now performs as you'd expect a dual core cpu should!

It's still being changed for the Asus P5B though!!

Im a bit late on this subject, just on holiday at my dads atm.

What is this problem with ram on the DS3?
if some one could enligten me that would be cool.

Will flash anyway on sunday.

Some people are buying RAM without having a gander to see if it is compatible with the DS3 and 4 seems it is RAM fussy

Im running.

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) (MY-013-GS)
From OcUk shop on my DS_3 never had any trouble with it at all.

Well got my G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400 today.

By looking at the pins, Looks like they have been tested in the factory :D , or RMA'd because they didnt work on a DS4 LOL :(

Batch number 0606

Putting them in at lunch time....

Basically, G.Skill 6400/5400 NR and LA have issues with the Gigabyte boards due the Cas latency being set to 3, instead of 5.

The HZ variations work due to massive overclocking potenital as i understand.

My PC6400 G.Skill HZ Works a treat on my DS4!!!!

Stelly, what is your ram setup for your OC, Voltage and timings.

Cheers

How can you tell the batch number - the first part of the serial number on my HZ is 6290 ??

Is there anyway around this? My mate just bought the 6400 NR and DS3, im building it tonight for him when i get back from work.

The only way as of yet to get them to boot is to hugely underclock and overvolt them (ie set them to DDR2-400 and +0.3v) but even then they arent stable.
Hopwfully Gigabyte will release a BIOS fix soon.

Yes the first 4 digits, mines 0606, some are 0605 :D not sure if that makes a difference, but i have read that the 6290 is still a micron D9...

I believe G.Skill pre-test all memory in the factory, should be the same for any manufacturer actually who is selling PC6400 and higher as they are essentially overclocked speeds. :)

At the moment G.Skill is our best selling DDR2, something daft like 1000+ modules per week ship out our door. :)

DS4 and HZ here. With E6300

Didn't mess about. Straight in at 450fsb everything else set to auto.

So what is your RAM running at then? How fast can this G.Skill 6400 go?
