Have to tell someone as friends and family have zero interest in photographic gadgets!
Thanks to an unexpected tax rebate I've managed to buy a few bits for my 40D. Until now have only had a f1.8 50, which although great for sharpness and low light is a bit restrictive in terms of range, I can never seem to get far enough away from my son to capture him properly.
So I've gone cheap and purchased a 18-55 IS (£85 new from Amazon at the mo), which after reading a bucket load of reviews seems, surprisingly, to be one of the better short zoom performers until you start shelling out serious money.
Have also splurged on a 430EX II and cheapo diffuser which I can't wait to try out and a pack of the new 2500mAh Eneloop XX batteries with a ninja BL-700 charger.....oh and I got a Giotto Rocket too, woo!
Should probably have done things the other way around and spent more on the lens and less on the flash, but never mind
Now thinking about what glass I need to save up for. Areas I'm interested in but don't currently have covered are macro and moon shots. I'm thinking of the Canon EF 100 f2.8 USM Macro and Canon EF 70-300 f4-5.6 IS USM. Not sure if I'd also need an extender for the moon shots?
