Im looking to have a worcester 29CDi combi installed, any suggestions on a good programmer and thermostat to go with it?

DT20RF seems good but it would be great to have some input on one that's reliable and simple to use.

Don't know much about boilers/heating but as this is a techy forum just pointing out that you can now get wireless setups with internet connectivity so you can monitor and control heating / hot water from computer or smartphone.

I see you said simple to use, maybe its for an older relative, the internet connected ones will be more complex but it would allow you to monitor their house temp and make sure they are not freezing themselves to save money or something.

No its for me, im fine with complexity but based on my experience with hardware i find the more gimmicks it comes with the less reliable and usable it tends to be.

I just need something solid and reliable, dosent need 10 different modes or ability to order pizza etc :p

Where have you read they aren't reliable?

There is nothing wrong with the DT20RF, I've sold plenty over the years and have had few back.

I never said DT20RF wasent reliable...

Any thoughts on the DT20 and FR10 combo? They arent wireless but together would be around the same price as the DT20RF set.

I've not sold any FR10 units or that combo , people just tend to go with the DT10, DT20 ( RF ) versions.
That FR10 looks like its a hard wired unit so would mean running a cable from boiler to where the FR10 unit is going to be located. You happy with that?

The unit that Hyburnate linked is also a decent, I use one at home.

Hmm theres already a potterton programmer and thermostat that are hard wired, PRT100 thermostat with an EP2002 programmer. Would the existing wires for these not be enough for the new stuff?

Yeah ive been googling that Honeywell ST9400C, looks good.

Cool, does "battery powered" mean it will use a battery to store settings etc in the event of a power cut or does it actually run off of batteries?

Need to check how many cores wired into your current stat and see what the FR10 uses.

Righto, when people come to give me quotes ill ask and hopefully one of them can get the front off it and see. Ill likely break the thing if I try.
