Hey all. Even for a budget build I'm doing (mostly www/no games), I'm having a hard time finding ddr2 anywhere. It's all **out of stock** unless you pay silly money (hello 2gig for £40+). The only ddr2 kit I can find is as expensive as ddr3.

So is there any point to a budget ddr2 system now? I'm only buying an athlon ii dual core cpu, and using a 760/780 mobo with IGP, and memory is threatening to be the most expensive component!

these are the prices I'm finding with actual stock available to buy:
2gig ddr2 @ ~£40 (crazy!), ddr3 similar
4gig ddr2 @ ~£90 (bought 4gig for £25 last year...), ddr3 more expensive by a few notes.

Problem is, whilst 2gig would be a safe bet for now, I'm selling this system on the grounds that it will be upgradable in future (with gfx card, more ram, phenom quad cpu).

Seeing what the prices of ddr2 and ddr3 are atm, what would your recommendation be?

ps. total system cost I'm estimating is £200, core compenents+case only. is looking doubtful atm :D
