Hi All,

I currently have the below spec:
MSI MAG B365m Mortar Micro ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i5 8400 @ 2.80GHz
AMD 6750XT GPU
be quiet! BN302 System Power 9 600W CM PSU
32.0GB Dual-Channel DDR4
2x Samsung SSD 870 EVO 500GB
NZXT H510 Case
Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 Cooler
LG 34WN80C 4k Ultrawide

I realise that i have a bottleneck at the moment with my CPU, but also can't upgrade much further with the current motherboard i've got so will need to swap that out as well.

I have a budget of £200-£250

Is that even possible for that price range? I'm not fussed wether its AMD/Intel, whichever i get more bang for my buck i guess. Oh and i'd need a Mobo with 4 ram slots as i've got 4x 8GB sticks at the moment

Appreciate any advice that anyone can provide.

If you can't increase the budget then realistically you're probably looking at a 5700X3D (~£140 from China) + a B450/B550. I'd hope your RAM is at least 3000MT as X3D doesn't care too much about RAM speed but lower than that you're losing a little performance.

Do you want new or 2nd hand?

You *could* go AM5 with a 7500F @ £100, cheap AM5 board @ £110 and some DDR5 ~£90 and then sell your old kit to claw back some of the extra, that's much better for longevity, you'd need to shop around.

For a budget of £250 this would be my pick
Ddr5 6000 can be had for £70 nowadays so the total build cost would be closer to £270
