Hi guys hope you can help, i am doing a new build atm and am getting the 0X00000124 BSOD during install and I as far i understand it seems to be a hardware issue. The install managed to get so far as upacking the files and aloowing me to choose on which partition to install after selecing the 64 bit option and then the BSOP appears.

Few questions.

1. if it was the fault of the CPU would it get as far as the above stage in the install process ?

if not then I am thinking it's down to either RAM, Mobo or HDD.

Any ideas ?

build below

Intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz (Clarkdale) (Socket LGA1156)

Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H Intel H55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 microATX Motherboard

Corsair Dominator 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache

OcUK Zeus Tower Case - Black (450W PSU)

That is to do with PCI Express I'm sure of it.

But can't be that because you have named no PCI Express hardware. Slap on the hand for me then.

Can you post the dump file it is most likely a PCI express hardware issue. But can also be caused by a bus error in the cpu.

You have not listed a gpu in your spec??? If you have one try removing it and installing without as you have onboard graphics.

0x124 is a fatal hardware error

how can I post the dump file ? I havent managed to install the OS yet (WIn 7)

maybe if it is something to do with graphics perhaps I can try updating BIOS or putting a graphics card for test purposes.

It looks like this bsod is to do with the memory so have you manually set the memory voltage and timings in the bios and running memtest? Try taking one of the memory modules out for the install, or try swapping the memory modules onto the other slots that are empty it it's not a problem with the settings.

did memtest and didn't show up any errors - after at least one pasioss. Tried what u suggested changing the voltage of ram on bios and only using 1 stick at a time - still the same error.

But i run a CPu stress test (marsenne numbers) and it failed after 20 mins...so i think it's down to CPU or mobo.
