Hi guys,

I'm looking to do a complete upgrade for my gaming PC. Based on my current setup there are a few requirements that I would like:

  • Budget of £1.5K - £2K but the lower the better!
  • Fully modular PSU.
  • At least 1440p resolution with possible 4K upgrade.
  • Temperature as cool as possible whilst keeping sound down.
I already have a monitor and HDD/SSD as well.

Any help/suggestions will be great :)

Thanks!

Thanks for that. Would a watercooled GTX 1080 be a good choice?

I'm almost thinking maybe 32GB RAM could be useful. :)

If you are happy to fit a custom loop it is certainly within budget. As is the 32gb rams :)

Might want to switch the case up to something a bit more WC friendly tho.

I was thinking about one of those Pre-Watercooled GPU's. Something like this:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...dr5x-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-325-ms.html

Are they worth the extra money? I like the idea of a watercooled CPU and GPU but without having to do it :)

Value is relative to those buying it.. ;)

You can get air cooled 1080s with similar clocks. But for pure quietness this would likely win I would bet.

Maybe EK will release pre filled 1080 blocks like these https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-w...-ti-acetal-predator-pre-filled-wc-989-ek.html

That would make it easy as :)

Is this system overkill? Would everything be compatible?

Not so sure on the Quad Channel RAM as the CPU would support but the mobo doesn't say that it will?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,918.85
(includes shipping: £0.00)

Any help will be great!

Thanks :)

The RAM will work, it will just be two sticks per channel A+B, rather than X99 one per channel A+B+C+D.

But for gaming 32GB is a lot and 16GB is ample.

AIOs,

(includes shipping: £10.50)

Cheaper, 280mm rads etc.

The CPU+Board are not compatible (socket 1151 and 2011-3)

The Gaming7+6700K bundle works.

550W for a single card, 750W for SLI, 650w is in the middle of no mans land.

So you end up with,

X99,

Total: £1,184.16
(includes shipping: £15.30)

Z170,

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £991.24
(includes shipping: £15.30)

And pick a gfx card to suit.

Thanks guys for the help.

Based on the suggestions/feedback and compatibility wise I am currently thinking along these lines:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,547.89
(includes shipping: £0.00)

I'm still unsure on the case but at the moment I have settled on the Silent Base 800. With regards to the CPU cooler is this the best for the money?

There seems to be quite a few different AIO's with mixed reviews!

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Thats a quality build mate. Prettymuch the same as my PC now that I have dropped a card. Still works fine for 1440p @144hz. Might have to drop some AA if you are aiming for 144hz but for 60hz thats going to eat everything.
