Hello chaps,

As Christmas is ever getting closer I am leaning towards building a new rig. My current machine is getting on for 4 years old and is now starting to struggle in BF4/Tomb Raider to name a few.

So a clean build is required. Here is what I have put together so far

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 780 ACX FTW 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (03G-P4-3784-KR) £429.95
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £275.99
1 x Samsung 256GB SSD 840 PRO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7PD256BW) £184.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £158.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case - Black £116.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060009-WW) £99.95
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC10TDC01) £79.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 750W Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020061-UK) £79.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £47.99
Total : £1,488.92 (includes shipping : £11.75).

Trying to keep it as close to Orange/Black as I can. Obviously any hardcore colour co-ordinators feel free to improve!

I have peripherals and at the moment I am planning on using Win7 that I have on this pc for the new build.

Graphics card is a placeholder, when it comes to actually ordering I will take a view on what is best for price vs performance and the larger PSU is for the future if I decide to SLI/XFire.

Comments and Improvements welcome!

Cheers

Update:

It looks like I will be going 7990 which will be ordered on Friday!

I was looking into doing a bit of colour co-ordinating. So I thought replacing the case and H100I fans with the following. So the case get some orange illumination but not too OTT.

YOUR BASKET
3 x Alpenföhn 140mm Wing Boost Plus PWM Fan - Orange £14.99 (£44.97)
2 x NZXT FZ-120 Airflow Fan Series, Orange LED - 120mm £10.99 (£21.98)
Total : £75.65 (includes shipping : £7.25).

But I am not sure where to start when it comes to cabling. Any guru's that can help?

I just realised I will need to add an optical drive in, that I missed on the original spec!

I wouldn't go for orange LED fans, they look tacky, the Alpenfohn fans looks more elegant.. They are bery good too..

What do you mean by cabling? Cables for the fans, or extension cables for the rig.. You can get orange ones. :)

Not just yet. I am going to re do the spec right now and pop it up.

The PSU/Extension cabling, I have seen the Bitfenix orange that look lovely!

For the extension cables you'll want a

24 pin
8 pin EPS
2 x 6+2 Pin PCI-E
Internal USB
Internal Audio
4 x 2 pin I/O connectors

Then the fans.. You can run some of them of the motherboard, though i run all mine from a molex, i use a molex to 3 x 3 pin 7v apadter.. You'd need 2 of them. :)

Stulid is that PSU, a good reputable make. PSU's make me jittery with all the different internals I hear getting banded around!?

The Supernova's are made by a realiable OEM (i forgot which one it is, Flower something, help me out her Stulid)..

So Yes.. That PSU is pretty darn good. :)

Though you'll only need all the power if going Quadfire. :)

^^ I might drop it to a 750W version. I think Quad-Fire is a little ambitious for me at the moment. The last PC I built was about 5 years ago and I read about Quad-Firing needing watercooling haha!

Yep superflower is the OEM for the SuperNovas.

The Evga 750W PSU are made by a worse OEM, so look at these instead,
