Hi all,

Looking for some help please. I have been gaming on an MSI laptop for the last 2-3 years, but that is just beginning to show its age now. I have been given the okay to build a desktop again from the better half.

My budget is £1500, this is just for the PC. I have Windows 10 and a 1080p monitor plus keyboard and mouse. I plan to upgrade the Monitor in February to a 1440.

I am out of touch with processors and GFX to be honest. Last time I did a build nobody went with AMD but looking through threads now these seem to be popular.

I play all sorts of games from FPS to strategy, Total War & FM being probably my most played titles. Love things like Dying Light though. What is absolutely essential though is that it must be quiet, as silent as possible. It will be going in the living room so I need the wife to be able to hear her Eastenders/Love Island etc without moaning at me for the PC being too loud. WIFI would be great as well or I will have to run an Ethernet cable about 10 meters around the room.

I have been looking at the be Quiet 900 Pro Case, not sure if there are better options though?

Anyway, over to the experts...........

Thanks.

if you don't have to buy now, i would suggest waiting. apparently AMD are about to announce their ryzen 3000 series CPU, that according to rumours (so please take with a large pinch of salt) will shake up the CPU market.
no point splashing out over a grand to see it devalue within the next 6-8 weeks.
if nothing appears over january, then by all means...

Top tip: get spousal approval for the case. And where spouses are concerned, small = cute = good so ITX is the way to go.

Lol.

Case size is okay, it will be kind of hidden away anyway so nobody will be able to see it. It is just the noise I am concerned with. I can't be doing with the tutting when she can't hear her TV programs!!

More than 2-3m and most cases won't make a large difference

Neo -G itx case, produced by phanteks, quick Google and can buy in UK. Only case to allow triple slot GPU in ITX case as well as dual 120 and 140 fans .

Windforce is 2.5 slot and will not work in the NZXT itx , spoke with NZXT lot a while back and doesn't work well with 2.5 slot GPUs

Place holder, can pick up monitor or like wise else where etc, just shows would you can get for cash etc

As above, itx would be good, Aorus 450 itx has best Ben to handle 8 core + if needs be
