Hi all,

Basically looking to buy a new set up, I spent around £1200 on my latest set up which has managed to last about 5-6 years. I have a bad look around and seen a few bits which I feel are what I want.

I'm really looking for advice on what the best bits I can get for my money, I had my heart set on an I7 but thinking about it an I5 will be more than good enough for my needs.

Will need to be able to handle gaming but not anything special, I am looking at getting into streaming/recording.

Any help is much appreciated.

Edit: Also is it worth buying MOBO bundles or a prebuilt etc. Or components seperately.

Whether a bundle or prebuilt is worth it compared to just the components and building it yourself depends on the specific deals.

How about something like this:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,027.34
(includes shipping: £12.60)

An i7 would be nice for streaming/recording. But an i5 can cope with most games, just may run into slightly uncomfortable territory depending on the demand of the game in question and the quality of the streaming/recording you desire.

Maybe the GTX 1060 is a tad more than what you need but it more or less fits in budget. You get a £10 Steam voucher with that HDD. Is the monitor 1080p 60Hz? Can you give us an example of some games you're going to play?

Thanks for the speedy reply, this is pretty much what I've been looking at and definitely agree with the GTX1060. Would mainly be playing league and CS:GO so nothing too high spec. Monitor is 1080p 60hz yes.

It's fine. But if you don't need Windows or a 2TB HDD and don't mind another Asus GPU model and different motherboard then you can get an i7-6700K. More value for money but up to you.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,009.93
(includes shipping: £14.10)

Or can get a proper unlocked i5-K and the Aura motherboard with LEDs that synch with the LEDs of your preferred GTX 1060 Strix Aura choice:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £469.42

To be honest if you don't care about LEDs then it's not worth paying so much for the Strix Aura 1060.

Thanks for your reply, I really like the idea of an I7 so might have to go with that first build, it's just what I'm looking for.
