New build - 1k Budget

my Friend is going to buy the alien ware x51 for £1.1k, and im just saying its a rip off, and we could build a much better pc for that budget. Lets proove this to him and hopefully change his brand lovers mind. Jsut being called alienware = an extra £400 pounds lol

Im a fan of nvidia, and would like just 1 good gpu. Everything else is upto you guys, but i want to be playing games for the next 2 years in the maximum spec.

Can you hit me with your builds? it will be greatly appreciated and plus its fun.

Have you an OS or will one be required?
Also, have you any components from an existing PC that can be reused?
Hdd(sata), optical drive, Psu,etc,.

Not a fan of nVidia at the moment as their current driver release are causing havoc with nVidia gamers. The ATI card on the other hand gets you £150 of free games.
