After about 9 years my cousin is finally going to allow me to build him a PC I do not know how he has managed to use his current Dell system for soo long.

He has a budget of £350-400 which will be just for the base unit only.

His main requirements are using icloud and documents for work also he is thinking of getting into a bit of gaming with games like Football Manager. (he needs a dvd drive his work still uses this method only) last part is he has to have wireless connection.

This is what I thought would be alright

Any suggestions?

Since the budget is tight, if one of the H110 boards has an updated shipping bios it could save you £25-£30 or so, at the cost of slower memory support and probably some other features. That could then be dumped on the PSU.

Do not buy that Kolink psu, it's complete garbage and little better than a generic psu. The 12v rail has a pathetic 276w on it which can clearly be seen if you click on the 1st product image. With specs like that it's more like a generic unit with a Kolink sticker on it. The cheapest psu that you should look at is the XFX XT 400w. While it isn't built by Seasonic it is designed by them and based on Seasonics Eco series. It's not brilliant but it's a lot better than the Kolink and has a 360w 12v rail which will be more than enough power. my pc doesn't even hit 300w at the wall while benching with everything heavily overclocked.

I have managed to get him to go up to £450 which if I used mickyfinn build I have £40 to play with but not sure if use that towards psu or go for ssd

Swap the memory and case in your build for the ones in mickyflinns build which will save £18. You could go for a b-grade case such as this Zalman T1 for only £12.95 which would save a further tenner. You can then get the XFX XT400 psu with £8 left over to add to the extra money you have got him to spend. If there's enough left over get a SSD but don't skimp on the psu.

Do you have legacy MM access? If not get another 23 posts done and you get access anyway. You could pick him up a very good bundle in there for his money.

This^ an SSD is great to have, but I would rather have a reliable PSU, if it goes pop it 'could' lead to all kinds of problems

What is legacy MM?

I did think about trying to use some old bits form the Dell until I saw it in person it's way too old maybe someone would want the floppy drive to raise some more £ lol
