Hi again, been a while since ive bin on here as ive been stupidly busy and no time for pc's, But i had a haswell build, 16gb ram, two 2gb graphics cards , watercooling etc etc ... Now the thing is i did the usual stupid thing i have a habbit of doing and left a tin of redbull on my tower when i went out leaving the pc on... my cat then decided i didnt need my pc anymore and tipped it over... long story short the whole pc was fried... inc the watercooling pump ?? how ... dont ask me but it fried everything but the bluray drive and my ssd's.

Now im looking to start fresh and ive bin looking at processors again ... ive seen a lot of people going toward amd 8core .. ? i thought a lot of games/software couldnt use these cores yet ? and even if they did is the haswell i7 i just blew still a good replacement ??

I'm looking at building one thats going to last me a few years now as i have other things i want to buy later this year so dont want to be upgrading again in dec etc ...

It will need to run new games on high settings at the minimum and have the power to create/edit videos and create 3d models etc without being glitchy !

My setup nearly did just that but now all its good for is a good size paperweight :-(

Sorry the long post im sure your all bored to the teeth of reading this so as a reward feel free to criticize and take the p*ss lmao :-)

Oh man, so sorry to hear that! That sucks!

What is your budget?

As for what you're looking for, the AMD chips are great on a budget and do perform well. But compared to Intel, they run hot. There aren't many application which will utilize 4 cores, let alone 8, so an i7 will still be more than enough for now.

For your requirements, I'd recommend an i7, wether that be a 4770k or a 4820/4930!

the 4770k was what i had :-( blub blub ....

Budget wise im not to bothered as i have my alienware laptop for personal use atm so i can wait a month or two while im building my new rig :-) i was going to head to i7 again before i seen the forums about the amd but you have just confirmed my thoughts :-)

Do you have anything you are using towards your new build? Am I right in thinking, according to your sig, you have CPU, RAM & SSD?

No buddy the stuff in my sig was when i was building my rig that just blew. the only things that ill be using from my old rig is my bluray drive and ssd's

Is the CPU itself actually dead? Generally other stuff on the board dies first and protects them unless the whole thing literally got submerged.

Have no problems running all the latest stuff on ultra with the specs in my sig.

Yea i tried the cpu in a test board i have, and also tested the ram .. one stick ran but was really unstable ... , Oh and obv i have all my watercooling gear apart from a pump ...
