Right I have a nice shiny new case the OcUK Tech Labs - Cooler Master HAF X Gaming Tower - 750 EX360 Water-cooled Case I now need some guts
The system will be used mainly for gaming ESO, various fps and many RPG’s
And I only upgrade core system every 24 months and gfx card every 12 months.
Running windows 764bit
I have an EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Also a Samsung 500GB SSD 840 SATA 6 GB/s Basic
And a blu ray drive also a 850watt antec true power psu
The processor will be a 4770k i7
So motherboard I want to learn overclocking I’ve done some minor oc'ing but nothing ambitious and mostly with the aide of software before so I will be doing a lot of browsing and reading over the coming months before I do anything serious (any links or help would be awesome
).
I am looking at 3 possible products
1) Asus Z87 MAXIMUS VI FORMULA Intel Z87
2) MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming Series Intel Z87
3) Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87
The first one seems to have nice bios for overclocking but the other 2 although much cheaper have some good reviews so undecided as yet
Memory is were I’m really coming unstuck so many timings and frequency’s to choose from.
8gig or 16 gig 1866, 2133 or 2400
I’ve read so many differing things from no difference to huge difference etc.
The 2 year upgrade cycle i have pushes me to 16gig but I’m open to suggestions

PS I’m disabled so cant really do any tricky soldering or stuff not sure if people still do that to unlock stuff etc.
