Hi Guys,

I am just getting ready to move into a new house that will have a few extra rooms so my PC will now be able to be used again. I built it nearly 2 years ago so all items are well out dated. I am looking to upgrade but really just need some advice as to what is worth keeping if any and what prices I'm likely to get if I sell parts.

Current set up is:

ASUS P5B Delux Mobo
Intel E6600 C2D
4 x 1GB Geil DDR2 PC2 - 6400 C4 800Mhz Ultra Low Latency Dual RAM
HIS ATI Raedon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 V2 Turbo
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Antec 900 Gaming Case

I will use the new setup for mainly gaming (BC2, Crysis etc) and DVD ripping

Thanks in advance for any help

Ray

i would keep the case then have a look at the intel i5 750 or amd quad cores oh and whats your budget

Buy a ati 5850, and overclock your CPU.

When you still not happy, buy a i5 750, motherboard and ram.

I was in a similar predicament about 3 months ago - I kept my ddr2 ram and went for an am2+ board with a phenom 955 and ati 5870. I expect this to last me about 2-3 years. So I suggest keep the case and maybe keep the ram. Im guessing you've got a decent psu too, maybe keep that too. Components are no more power hungry than they were 2 years ago.

buy radeon 5850 + 2x2 gb ram, any will do and read a little up on overclocking that cpu so bottlenecking doesn't hold you back.

Thanks for the replys so far. I think I will be replacing the power supply also as I don't think it is the best. I have a 580w hyper type R.

I can get hold of another x1950 pro for around £30. Do you think I would benifit from 2 x1950's in crossfire mode or
would I be better paying the extra for a 5770 or better?

To be honest, I havn't really got a budget. I normally just go and buy the bits then worry about it after, lol. In all seriousness though, I dont really mind what I spend, but I dont really want to buy the best of everything if it is going to be overkill for a few hours gaming each week and maybe burning a few dvds.

I do like the look of the 5770's. I forgot to mention in the op, that I have a full water cooling kit (Eheim Innovator pump, Danger Den CPU, GPU, NB blocks, res etc) that I have not yet bothered fitting. Am I correct in thinking that fitting this will enhance my OC'ing ability???

Yes a water cooling kit will improve how far you can oc your, and the 5770 should be fine i think unless you want to run bad company max'd @ 1080p.
