So I'm looking at building a good gaming system, trying to spend around £1,200-ISH. Here's what I've come up with so far:

- Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor
- 2x GTX 970 4GB
- Asus VN247H 24"Widescreen Super Narrow Bezel LED Monitor
- SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 850W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply
- MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX
- Samsung 500GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive
- G.Skill TridentX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit
- Corsair Hydro H55 Quiet Liquid CPU Cooler
- Cooler Master K380 Midi Tower Black Windowed Case
- MicroLab FC360 45W 2.1 Speaker System
- CM Storm Octane Gaming Peripheral Bundle
- Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)

I just wondered if anyone could help me by suggesting anything better for the same kind of money?

All the best,
Iain.

looking at your build below your £400 over your 1.2k ish limit, I was wondering how you got that to 1.2k so put it all in myself and it comes out at 1.6k

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £289.99
2 x Palit GeForce GTX 970 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £245.99 (£491.98)
1 x Samsung 500GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive (MZ-75E500B/EU) £155.99
1 x Asus VN247H 24"Widescreen Super Narrow Bezel LED Monitor - Black £155.99
1 x MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £109.99
1 x SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 850W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £109.99
1 x G.Skill TridentX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-2400C10D-8GTX) £65.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H55 Quiet Liquid CPU Cooler £59.99
1 x MicroLab FC360 45W 2.1 Speaker System - Black £46.99
1 x CM Storm Octane Gaming Peripheral Bundle (MS35 & MB7C) £44.99
1 x Cooler Master K380 Midi Tower Black Windowed Case - Black (RC-K380-KWN1) £35.99
1 x Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g) £8.99
Total : £1,603.50 (includes shipping : £22.20 Ex.VAT).

now there are several things you can change but still have a good gaming machine, this build below will still run most games for you on ultra with good fps especially on 1080p!

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 980 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £419.99
1 x Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £187.99
1 x MSI Z97A Gaming 6 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £134.99
1 x SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 850W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £109.99
1 x Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive (MZ-75E250B/EU) £89.99
1 x NZXT Source 340 Midi-Tower Case - Red Window £59.99
1 x OcUK Tech Labs 240mm Extreme CPU Liquid Cooling Upgrade Bundle £59.83
- 1 x Asetek Premium Retention Kit Intel LGA115X (35-150-0000014) £4.00
- 1 x No Fan Controller Required £0.00
1 x Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (CMY8GX3M2A2400C11R) £49.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £44.99
Total : £1,176.80 (includes shipping : £12.60 Ex.VAT).

if your only gaming you don't need the i7 as games wont use the hyper threading, also this is just the pc with no peripherals. I also changed your sli 970s to a single 980, yes you will lose performance but it wont be noticeable and with the psu and motherboard you can always buy another 980 in a year or so if you want the added boost. the reason I swapped your 500gb SSD to 250gb and 1tb hard drive is also as games wont give a significant boost being on a SSD apart from load times. so putting your OS and some programs on the SSD will utilise it best. with your Games/Steam on the HDD giving more room to download games.

so maybe if you care a bit about how your pc looks you could add some of these with the saved £35 to make it that bit more nicer to look at and give it a slight glow when its dark in the room:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone LED Light Strips - Red £10.25
1 x SilverStone ATX 24-pin cable, 30 cm - Black / Red £8.93
1 x Silverstone EPS 8-pin to EPS / ATX 4 +4 pin cable 30 cm - Black / Red £4.24
2 x Silverstone PCI 8-Pin to 6 +2- pin PCIe Cable 25 cm - Black / Red £4.24 (£8.48)
Total : £36.88 (includes shipping : £4.16 Ex.VAT).

Peripherals I would choose for this build keeping it to the total 1.6k mark is:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Iiyama Prolite GB2773HS-GB2 144Hz 27" Widescreen LED 1MS Monitor - Black £259.99
1 x MicroLab FC360 45W 2.1 Speaker System - Black £46.99
1 x Corsair Raptor K30 Gaming Keyboard (CH-9000043-UK) £39.95
1 x Corsair Raptor M45 Gaming Mouse (CH-9000052-EU) £37.99
Total : £406.34 (includes shipping : £17.85 Ex.VAT).

this will give you a better overall experience with high end graphic using it at 144hz, reason I didn't get you a 1440p monitor is for 144hz its £629. I also put in a better mouse and keyboard combo which will actually match your pc quite well as I noticed you were going for red/black on your components, I also use the K50 keyboard and thinks probably the best non mech one I have used.

hope this helped and if not let me know, or if you choose to go for anything I would be interested in your final build/how it will turn out :)

RM650 isn't a great PSU choice for the above, there are better units for a similar price like any SuperFlower, EVGA GS/G2/B2, Seasonic etc

yeah I know, when I picked the psu I wasn't sure I was going to go over the 1.2k mark, will edit it in now as there is a £10-20 spare
