Hi all,

Building myself a new system primarily for gaming, films (HD), rendering (Autodesk Maya, Photoshop and Combustion) and general usage.

Case - Antec p183

Motherboard - Gigabyte EX58-UD5

CPU - Core i7 920 D0 Stepping

CPU Cooler - Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
-with Noctua NF-P12 Vortex

Memory - Corsair Dominator 6GB

Graphics - BFG GTX 285 OCX 1024MB

Hard Drive - Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB

PSU - Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 750W

I'll be using a DVD drive from a spare computer.

My main concerns at the moment are that the Thermalright Ultra will be too tall for the case. I read an article on another site where they used this cooler but on the Antec P193. Both have the same width, I'm just wondering if anybody has had any issues with these two items? I won't be installing a side fan.

The other is the PSU. Do I have too much power? I've never been good at judging what is enough, especially with the newer graphics cards (I haven't had to build a new system in a while).

Does anyone think there will be any other issues?

Many thanks

Specs look excellent. Well researched mate.
You could save some money on the psu, 650W or even 550W respected would do you. You'd be looking at saving about 30 quid, I'd personally stick with the one you've picked out. It's the best component to over-specify.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't fit, but have not checked this. "Both have the same width" rather suggests you'll be fine, but the ocz webnote system is very good if google proves fickle.

Really, really good choices actually. Is this your first build?

No, this will be my 3rd, I think. It's been a while since my last build though. 2 years now maybe.

In the past I've gone for more powerful PSU's as I've read many times that not enough power can cause instability. Plus, it allows me to upgrade to more powerful parts in the future without having to build a whole new system.

I'll give the OcUK webnote a shot
