New build - Advice needed

Hi all, new to the forums :)
Seems like a really good community here.

Okay lets cut to the chase. Im looking to build myself a new rig. With Sandy Bridge having just been released it seemed like an ideal time. Will be used mainly for gaming, video editing and music production.

I set myself an initial budget of £1000 and came up with this:

OcUK Motherboard Bundle - Intel Core i7 2600K & Asus P8P67 Pro Intel P67 Mainboard £399.97

HIS ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £244.99

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £41.99

Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B CPU Cooler (Socket 775/1155/1156/1366) £43.99

Corsair TX 850W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-850TXUK) £102.12

Xigmatek Utgard Midi Tower Case - Black £60.98

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) £40.99

TOTAL: £1,032.01

So I've exceeded my budget by £32 but no worries.
I was just wondering what you all thought of this so far. I was hoping you could give any suggestions/improvements.
 
Okay, I like the price and modular is always good. The reason I went for the 850 Corsair was because I was worried about the PSU being sufficient to power the system.
 
That seems like a solid build, however these are a few things for you to think about.

1) Will you be using an i7 to its fullest potential?
2) Will you be using a 6950 to its fullest potential?

If your answer is no to any of these, you may consider buying some more cost effective parts that'll still do the job. Just trying to help.

I think so. I also want this to be future proof as I don't plan on upgrading for at least 3 years.

Fair enough, may I ask what kind of games you would be playing with that 6950? Cause in some cases, the GTX460 can be a brilliant card for value.
 
Taking all things into consideration, I think I'm better off opting for a weaker graphics card which I can then run in Xfire or SLI. I was looking at the radeon 6850/6870 and the Nvidia GTX 460/470. Which could you reccomend?
