New build advice needed

Hi All!

Going to be ordering parts for a new build soon and I'd like to get some advice on what I've selected.

This machine will primarily be used for Video editing, VFX and gaming.

My main concerns are the motherboard and PSU and whether they will be suitable for now and in the future when I upgrade my GPU. I've seen the Super Flower Gold and Green 650 mentioned a lot on here and wondered if this was a better route to take or should I be looking at more Watts? Ideally I'd like something that I could possibly use in my next build several years from now.

I plan to upgrade my GPU to something like a 780 in a few months time and add an additional 16GB RAM, but I likely won't be overclocking or getting SLI/Crossfire. I've currently got this build somewhere between £800-900 and I'd like to keep the budget around this figure.

Any comments/suggestions on what I've chosen so far would be great! :D

Hi,

I have a spec for you but i have some questions.

You say you're not into overclocking, so why have you got a K series CPU specced and a £100 Cooler? Im keeping the K series CPU for you, but you can spend a lot less on a cooler.

Faster RAM, awesome PSU and quiet Cooler (those enermax fans are silent as..)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £249.95
1 x Samsung 250GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE250BW) £139.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD316G2133HC11ADC01) £129.95
1 x SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 650W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £89.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87-D3HP Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £89.99
1 x Enermax ELC120-TB Liquid Cooler with 2x T.B.Silence 12cm Fans £49.99
Total : £759.46 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Thanks for the suggestions!

I mainly chose the 4770K for it's multicore performance and single core clock speed. Plus, I've seen it in a lot of other builds and gets favourable reviews. I'm open to suggestions if there is a better alternative?

The H100i is probably a bit overkill but as this machine will have to render for long periods of time (several days) I thought it best. If the Enermax cools sufficiently and is still relatively quiet then it sounds like a good alternative (and cheaper too :)).

Thanks.

Are you intending to render for that amount of time in a room where you will have to listen to the PC as it works? If so, the H100i isn't a bad shout for cooling and noise reduction, but the stock fans will need to be replaced with SP120's else they will be annoyingly loud.

I think the enermax I specced is more than capable for full load over extended periods, at stock.

Cobsidering it'll be £70 less, when you add the sp120s in.

Yeah, it'll need to be reasonably quiet. I can put up with the increased noise whilst it's rendering but I'd like it to be quieter when it's not. I was going to see how loud the stock fans where and decide from there. SP120's and Noctua's are a couple of options I've considered.
