Hi,

I'm in the process of putting a build together for when the 9800x3D arrives.

My question is: do I need low profile memory for a Noctua NH-D15 G2 LBC on a MSI MPG x870E?

The Noctua website says 59mm in single fan mode and 32mm in dual fan mode, but I don't know if that applies to ALL memory slots, or just the closest to the CPU.

32mm is pretty low, I think you might be restricted to JEDEC/OEM memory, without a heatsink, like Kingston value.

If you don't have this cooler yet, there are much cheaper coolers that would do the job and not have any, or have less height restriction.

In the review on hwbusters, the reviewer mentioned that the fan can be mounted higher up to give you more clearance.
Can you recommend a cooler that will provide me with the appropriate clearance for quality memory?

I plan on 2x 32Gb modules.

Freezer 36 can cool a 7800X3D and has no height restrictions. We'd have to wait for reviews on the 9800X3D to find out if it can handle it.

Peerless assassin and phantom spirit have around 42mm stock clearance, but like the Noctua, you can mount the fan higher up.
I do appreciate your feedback.

I will talk to Overclockers when the CPU is released.
