Hey everyone :)

I am looking to replace my E8400 system with something beefier for Battlefield 3 (as thousands of others probably are!). I currently have the following:

  • E8400
  • IP35 Pro XE
  • 4GB PC2-6400
  • XFX 5770
  • Intel X25-M 160GB SSD for Windows 7, software and games
  • Samsung F3 2TB 5400rpm hdd for file storage
  • Corsair H50
  • Corsair 520w HX (i think) modular psu
  • 24" DGM VA monitor (1920x1200)

Already decided on the following 2 bits:
  • Intel X25-M 160GB SSD - £0
    - Keeping this unless worth replacing with something newer
  • Silverstone Raven 2 case - £130

Following is what I need within an estimated budget of ~ £650:
  • Guts ~ £400
    - i5 or i7 cpu
    - ATX mobo with latest features and plenty of ports
    - 8gb ram
    - New cpu cooler (prefer something silent so looking towards a newer water cooler)
    - Suitable PSU (unless I can keep my current one)
  • Graphics card ~ £200
    - Good enough to handle games for the next 2-3 years or Battlefield 3 atleast
  • Sound card ~ £50??
    - To hook up my 2 x KRK KP6's, also need recommendations for best connection
Total spend: £780

Edit: Removed requirements for a monitor, considering there are no WUXGA res offerings under £200 (even that one is high response time) I'll stick with my VA!

Thanks fowler002, those parts look good!

I'm going to leave the monitor, psu and sound card for now and add them if/when necessary. So I have the following in my basket:

  • OcUK ATI Radeon 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE DIRT3 & Deus Ex PC Games £205.99
  • Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £167.99
  • Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £159.98
  • Silverstone Raven 2 RV02B Full Tower Case - Black £129.98
  • Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) £41.99
Sub Total : £588.28
FREE SHIPPING (DPD Next Day) : FREE
VAT : £117.66
Total : £705.94

Should be able to claim the vat back on this too so not bad for £588 I guess :)

Edit: Forgot to throw a couple of these in too! :p
  • Official Overclockers UK Elite Gaming Mug - £4.99

The price of my order jumped from £705 to £726 (not including the mug) by the time I placed my order on Wednesday afternoon, then they didn't dispatch my components because the damn MUG wasn't in stock. Had to email them before they figured out how stupid that was and finally dispatched it on Friday for Tuesday delivery ¬_¬

Also a bit late but I've just looked around and found that I could got the system for £718 including £16 delivery (so £702 parts value) with a "MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 2048MB" instead of the above 'VTX' brand I've never heard of...

Not really sure why I chose to shop with OCUK now ¬_¬
