Hi,

Just after some advice on a new build, I've tried to get ideas from all the existing threads as it's ~10 years since I last built my own PC based around Pentium 4 :D, so go easy if there are any obvious errors.

I'll be running linux and my usage will mainly be coding and running virtual machines for testing and labs inside KVM. I doubt I'll bother much with gaming so I've not specced a dedicated GPU for now but this is something I could add at a later date if needed.

I already have 2x1TB SATA disks, 1x23" monitor (I'll likely be adding another but haven't included one yet), keyboard, mouse etc.

Also I added the B grade Antec as there doesn't seem to be any new ones in stock. Case choice doesn't bother me too much along as it looks fairly clean and simple.

Are there any errors or changes people would suggest? I don't mind paying slightly more if there is a quick win by changing an item etc and I am well open to suggestions due to my non existent knowledge of the latest tech!

Thanks in advance

Is there anyone who could just quickly confirm this build is compatible as I'd like to get it delivered before the weekend if possible. I'm going to swap the above SSD for a Samsung evo 840 but the rest will likely stay the same

Cheers

The heatsink and RAM maybe a bit to big for each other. Or you maybe able to get away with using slots 2+4 furthest from the CPU socket and clear the heatsinks fan.

Thanks I'd not considered that. Is there any similar RAM that doesn't have big heat sinks as an alternative or is the heat sink the issue?

:)

The ram is the issue i had that heatsink and its great, if you want the ram just put them into the other 2 dual channel slots.

Thanks for the advice it's much appreciated. I'll decide which option to go with and order this afternoon.

Cheers
