Hello, I’m looking for some advice, I’m looking at the below build with a budget of 1k, but the more I can go under that the better, so bang for buck is most welcome.

I’d like to be able to play all current games, not necessarily at Ultra/ray tracing etc, and at 1080p - Also a lot of music production on Ableton 10.

Main questions:

Do I need an RX6750 over an RX6700?

Is the CPU a good fit for mixed usage?

Thanks, Dan

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £944.83 (includes delivery: £7.99)

Hi and welcome.

You could drop the graphics card down to a 6700xt saving about £70 which you then could by a better PSU as the Kolink is a a poor quality unit.

Plus the CPU cooler is .5mm to tall for that case so it's risky.

Do you need WiFi ?

No storage you need a m2 drive.

Think that's a MATX case and the board is atx?

Do you need wifi and spdif? There are cheaper boards.

You don't, the Sapphire 6700 XT would be fine.

CPU comes with a cooler.

Also a lot of music production on Ableton 10.

I assume you don't need nvidia GPU for any of those things?

Thanks guys,

I’ll go with the RX6700 then, I would like WI-FI just for QoL, but it’s not essential, no cooler needed is good to know, case wise I just avoided anything labelled mini and assumed that would be ok, and I will upgrade the psu. I’m currently using Ableton on an AMD Phenom x2.

Any suggestions on mobo and PSU?

But overall it’s not far off?

Thanks, Dan

You could get the latest AM5 CPU and motherboard within your budget if you don't mind spending, but you could stick with what you have it's only a bigger case you need.

Cooler by a better one as the stock coolers can be noisy but you don't have to do that straight away.

Motherboard sizes is what you want to keep an eye on as that will determine minimum case size so always check thus.

I've done a build for you to look at and my brother @Tetras will most likely provide an Intel alternative..

2 copies of starfield with this build so you could sell one or two.

I do AMD builds sometimes :D

Max budget Intel/DDR5 alternative (retains wifi/spdif):

My basket at OcUK:

Cheaper Intel/DDR4 (no spdif, no integrated graphics):

It seems that Ableton prefers cores over GPU. I would consider a 6600XT and put the savings into an 8 core. In that case, consider AM4. If gaming is the focus, the the 7600.

I am working with an unknown with your Ableton software. I knows it uses CPU over GPU...just not certain if it prefers clocks or cores. If clocks, Ryzen 7600 is better option. If cores, 5700X probably better. The savings have gone into getting you a better MB in the ASUS ROG Strix as it has an excellent Codec for your music stuff (Realtek S1220A) which should certainly improve your sound fidelity. Additionally, I have gone for 2TB WD Black. If you can get by with 1TB, the you can get the 1TB Crucial P3 PLUS saving £60 putting you below £900. For an aftermarket cooler, you should source the Peerless Assassin not mentioned by @Tetras :D Review here and available for around £40

I like the Alpenfohn Ben Nevis Advanced CPU Cooler 130mm for £26 (height 159mm so fits in your case with 1mm clearance). Or one of the others on OCUK for £30- £40. With the cooler £980 - £990 as is or with the 1TB drive £920 - £930
