Hi guys,

I've been out of the loop with the latest hardware and need to build a good gaming pc. Something that will hopefully last a couple years and let me play games on full settings.

So far ive got the following items listed but am not sure if they are good/compatible with the other parts?

CPU/MOBO/RAM = Intel Core 2 DUO LGA775 E6600 2.40GHz Retail
/ 2GB Corsair XMS2-6400C4 DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

Now im not sure about the RAM and MOBO. I was thinking in future I might get SLI setup going but was totally lost when looking for a good one  Anyone suggest a good one?

Graphics = EVGA GeForce 7950 GX2 SuperClocked 1024MB GDDR3 HDTV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (E595-AX) (GX-012-EA)
Only chose this because it sounded good and I have a HDTV to use it with. Any good?

PSU = Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
This enough? I seen the 1000W Enermax for systems that will have 32-64gb of ram, how far away are these systems and is it worth holding off until they are out?

Case = Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming case
Any good?

The rest that I have missed out I already have that im going to use from my old pc - raptor hdd, speakers, screen, mouse, keyboard, sound card etc

Any help, advice, criticism is welcome, I would like to order tonight so I can build it at the weekend if possible.

Thanks in advance

The case looks a bit tacky to me but that isn't to say that is no good at what is meant to do. :)

What sort of resolutions do you play at? SLi or Crossfire only really tend to come into their own at 1600x1200 or above, I think that a motherboard like an Asus P5W DH Deluxe or a Gigabyte DS4 are probably better (and newer) than most SLi compatible motherboards out there just now but both support Crossfire not SLi.

The graphics card is good, pricey but good and you do get the option of EVGA's 'step-up' programme within 90 days.

The PSU will be fine, 1kw PSUs are rather extreme and given current Ram prices I think it will be a while before 32-64gb becomes a realistic possibility for most people not to mention the fact that you would have to stuff your PC with rather more than just Ram to need that sort of power. :)

Thanks for the reply mate :)
I am using a Samsung 26" HDTV which supports 1360x768 through the DVI I have now with my 6800 ultra, but im not sure if it will run higher res when connected to a HDMI cable that would work with the 7950 gx2?

Im still in 2 minds as I have been going through these forums and everyone is saying to wait til the g80 and new cpu's etc :(

My RAM broke last week and rather than spend good money on more old ram id rather upgrade.

I think the 1360x768 is a hardware limit of the TV rather than anything else, it seems to be a fairly standard resolution. If you are going to upgrade then I'd consider a 7600gt as a stop-gap until the new Nvidia or ATI cards come out, the card is a shade more powerful than the 6800ultra and easily capable at the sort of resolutions your TV has. :)
