Hi guys - I've been out of the loop for a fair while!

I've got a budget of about £800, and would like to put together a Ryzen build for gaming. I've read that Ryzen needs faster RAM than Intel, not sure how true this is? Does anyone have any advice? Or even a build list if that's possible? I don't need a monitor or any peripherals.

Thanks

Hi

I would hang fire a few weeks if you can ? as the B450 chipset boards are supposedly due at the end of the month. Hopefully with better vrm's than most of the B350 ones.

As a rough guide for £800 you might be looking at something like:

R5 1600 or R5 2600 depending on price

B450 motherboard

8GB/16GB DDR4 3000MHz - 3200MHz

GTX 1060 or RX 580

550W psu such as a Bitfenix formula or Seasonic focus if you want modular.

240GB/250GB SSD and also HDD

And of course a case to put it all in.

intel option with 16gb ram and aftermarket cooler (and MATX size):
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £815.62 (includes shipping: £11.70)

amd option:
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £780.48 (includes shipping: £12.60)

some parts in either build are oos at the moment though
the most major difference is the storage combi (intel one specced as 512gb ssd only, amd one has 240gb ssd and 1tb hdd combo) - overall price for either storage combination is the same (~£80-90)
