I’m building my first pc for a very long time on a tight budget. At the same time trying to build in a bit of future proofing. It’ll be for occasional gaming but primarily Autocad and articad. Autocad 2D but articad is 3D kitchen design rendering software. I know there’s no GPU on this list, I’ll be using an old Nvidia Quadro k4200 until I can save some more pennies.

I hope the link works, let me know if it doesn’t.

Any suggestions on any of the items would be appreciated. I really can’t spend any more on the cpu, I’ve already upgraded to get in to entry level am5 motherboard memory and cpu. Saving money and maintaining/improving performance are my priorities.

Thankyou for your input.

Not much to say really, you're fine, only comment I'd have is that you're getting a board that does not have PCI-E 5.0 graphics. Considering B850 boards with PCI-E 5.0 are similar in price, I think I'd make the switch.

Considering your usage, you may also want to swap the RAM for Crucial's 48GB kit instead (same price). The performance loss in gaming will be mostly insignificant, but the extra RAM could be useful to you.

Last point, the CPU: the 9600X/9600 and 7600X/7600 seem to be going up and down in price like a yoyo lately, so worth checking. Note that the 7600X and 9600X do not have a cooler, but the non-X versions do.

Thanks for your advice. I think I'll stick with the processor as this one was already a step up in price to DDR5 territory, but I'll go for the one that includes the cooler apparently performance difference isn't noticable. Going to change the Mobo to the AsRock B850 Pro-A Wifi (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX at £167.99 and changed the memory to your suggestion Crucial Pro 48GB (2x24GB) DDR5 PC5-4800C48 6000MHz Dual Channel kit.

Also I think I'll need a couple of sata cables for the SSD and Sata drive I intend installing. Do you think I'll need any other cables?

If you go asrock make sure you update the bios on arrival. Personally, I'd pick another brand and get something like the Eagle instead, bot your call.

Not that I can think of. If you're installing old SATA SSDs, keep in mind some recent boards only have 2 SATA ports.
