Processor

- Nvidia 9800 GT
- Nvidia 9800 GTX +
- ATI 4850

Probably 512mb

Memory
- Geil Black Dragon PC2-6400 800Mhz 4GB Kit (2x2GB)

Any thoughts, comments suggestions greatly appreciated

Scrap the Thermaltake case. They suck, to put it bluntly. Buy an Antec 300 or Lian Li PC7 or a Hiper Osiris instead.

Get the ATi 4850.

Get the Asus P5Q Pro motherboard.

Swap the PSU for a Corsair.

Thanks for the advice, I have to say I like the look of the Antec 300 and I have seen nothing but good reviews and for that and Corsair PSU's.

I can also recommend the antec 300 and corsair psu's. I would choose the e8400 if it were going to be a gaming pc and then overclock it. If it was not for gaming then I would go for the q6600.

I agree with the others, go for an antec 300 case, great for the price.

Well done on getting rid of the hiper, corsair are much better.

For the motherboard, go for a P45, this one is really good

I'd go with the E8400, great little overclocker.

Maybe up the ram to 4gb PC2-8500, but depends on how much you want to overclock the CPU.

Definitely go for the 4850, best out of the 3 you picked.

what benefit would PC2-8500 give over the 6400 in terms of overclocking potential and speed in general ? Considering it would be an additional £30-£40 more.

Thanks

Good choice to repick the corsair psu, get antec 300 case, my brothers pc has the antec 300 case and its nice to work with and can tidy up the cables quite nicely.

Ok, so I've just been reading about a number of Corsair failures

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17943295

In the light of that I'm considering chaging my PSU
- Thermaltake W0103 Toughpower 600Watt ATX Power Supply
- OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Modular Power Supply
- Akasa Ultra Quiet 500W Paxpower Active PFC ATX2.2 PSU - Black Nickel
- Gigabyte ODIN GT 550W ATX2.2 Dual-SLi Compliant Modular PSU

In addition I notice

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail

or would I be better of getting?

- Gainward ATI Radeon HD 4850 "Golden Sample" 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail
- Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4850 PCS Extreme 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail

Any thoughts on the above or the 6400 vs 8500 memory?
