Hi all *waves* Im after some of your good advice please.

Well... I have finally talked the wife into allowing me to build a new PC.

My build will cost 2k+ so I need to be sure about what im going to be buying.

Im looking at...

i7 940 2.93Ghz (custom HS&F with view to OC'ing)
6gb DDR 3 tri channel
Nvidia GTX295 (2nd card to be added at a later date)
2tb HD space
Asus mobo
Creative's Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium (with front panel)
Blueray burner
PSU that will handle second G. card in future.

Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit

What do you recon?

Im looking for a case that will fit 2 x GTX295 cards in, what case would fit the bill? Im after a nice big case with very good cooling (not water cooling).

What is wrong with motherboard designers!!! I see a bit of a problem fittting a GTX295, PCI Express soundcard and then possibly later on a second GTX295. Cant find a mobo that will allow this... :(

Any advice welcome.

Well, i would go for a i7 920 not a 940. I recently bought one from ocuk and it was a very bad batch so maybe buy when they get the next batch in.

Case. A antec 900 version 2 or a cosmos would be very nice. Otherwise you could settle for a antec 300 which may or may not fit it. It fits my gtx 280 but im not sure if the 295 is bigger.

Thanks for your reply mate.

I was lookng at the Antec 900v2 *grin*, would I fit 2 x GTX295's in there?

I was also looking at the Silverstone Temjin TJ07 in black.

Re the processor, are the batches in stock not very good for overclocking? whats the issue with this batch?

Many thanks.

Have both the antec 900 + 1200 cases.
The 1200 is bigger and i would almost go for that. If you dont mind the size. I found it so much easyer to work inside the case so much more space.

But saying that the 900 is still very good.

The TJ07 is an awesome case, I use one and its huge, looks class aswell (although i had it poweder coated orange and black :p)

And agreed with the 920 over the 940. 920's clock like theres no tomorow, so the 940 would be a waste

Don't know if this helps, but I have a GTX 295 still in the box here. A quick measure puts it at roughly 11 inches long and about 5.5 inches wide.

Hi all, thank you very much for your input.

I think you guys have talked me round the processor, an i7 920 it is then!!!

Hey Petrach, thanks for taking the time to have a measure up of the card, nice one mate. Damn they are BIG!!! Hope you enjoy it once you get it installed! *grin*

Ging3r, i do love that TJ07 case...its just sexy!!! Will I be able to fit 2 x GTX295's without issues in your opinion? Whats the cooling like...is it a nice cool case? **EDIT** Been informed that when installing two GTX295's (quad SLI) they suffer from micro stutter....may not be going down this route then!

Then again im also being pulled towards the Antec cases, 1200 looks good Muppetkiller! That huge fan on the top and with its blue LED's...mmmm *drool* Its a nice big case.

Again, thanks a lot for your time/input gents. I have some pondering to do! :)
