Hey all

Finger is poised on the buy button but need some sage advice first.

Abit IP35 pro
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x1GB)
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775) (what are good fan/s for this?)

Will be the basics, any issues with any of this? I won't need to o/c too much but will of course have to a little! :)

I have all the HDD, Optical drives and peripherals I need.

Case:
No idea, I will be air cooling though. I currently have a Coolermaster Praetorian but think it will be too small for the above to fit nicely.
Ideally I'd like to spend not much more than £100 on a case.
Coolermaster COSMOS 1000?
Akasa Eclipse 62?

Graphics:
Again help! I don't play FPS games but would still like something reasonable for around £150.
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 2900 Pro SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (21119-00-40R)
OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Both <£150

Fans:
Noctua? Akasa? Scythe?

Power supply:
I'm guessing I should be looking at something >500w for the above.

Sorry for all the questions folks, I had a blue screen today for the first time ever and I've needed an upgrade for a while.

EDIT: I may have posted in the wrong thread but as I say I will want to clock this.

Well as per always I will recommend the Antec 900, I know it says Gaming case (I guess it is) but it has good airflow & that's important to some of us, the fans are pretty large so can shift decent amounts of air while staying relatively quiet.

8800GT it offers similar performance to the GTX model except for when AA is applied or very high resolution is where it drops against the GTX but it is still very good performer! :)

As for fans, don't take my word too highly as I'm not in much know how for fans but I hear the Sharkoons are pretty good. As for PSU, 600W namely cause Graphics cards are power hungry I think the recommended is 500W Minimum, 600W recommended, that's upto you I guess!

I believe that CPU has a maximum CPU Multiplier of 8.
Without overclocking the Ram, theoretical maximum Clock Speed with PC8500 Ram is 4.25 GHz and with PC6400 Ram 3.2 GHz.
Check prices and decide what the best option is for you.

For air cooling the Noctua NH-U12F is not the most effective, but is more than adequate for most situations and it's quiet.
Mine cooled my Q6600 adequately at 3.6 GHz.

The Thermalrights have caused problems for some with uneven bases and having to resort to lapping etc.

Corsair PSU's are quiet and well regarded which is why I bought one.

Ok, done a little more searching and it looks like this. Hopefully this should be ok. Will order V soon so if anyone spots a glaring error please post quick. Thanks for comments so far.

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x1GB)
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-620HXUK)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail
Antec P182 Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU (Gun Metal Black)
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 120mm Fan - 3/4 Pin x 5
Corsair Memory Cooler (Dominator Fan)
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775)
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 Sound Card - OEM (PCI) (30SB079200000)
Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus Black Multi Fan Controller
Also an 8800GT from elsewhere.

I'll post when its built, I'll be happy with 3ghz or more which should be fine from what I've read.
