Hi guys.

It's been a long time since I've been active on these boards. I'm getting ready to build a new gaming rig. It needs to support a decent card, top TV card, surround sound etc. I'm looking for a good motherboard, dual core and 4GB ram. The case, monitors, HDDs, opticals I can do myself. I've been out of the loop for so long I'm not sure which motherboard is the one to get for these new intel dual cores :) Go easy on me!

Note: If you guys could give me advice on suitable PSU and whether to use DDR2 or DDR3 that would be great :)

I'm in the same boat what GFX card you intending to go for.

I've been told for a single slot card the P35 boards are good.

Low / Mid: P35 (X38 if you want to run duel ATI cards)
Mid / High: P45 (X48 if you want to run duel ATI cards)

If you are looking to overclock then ASUS are a good bet, also on the P45 boards ASUS seem to have hit the ground running and they are making some really nice pieces of kit

In regards to the CPU and RAM really depends on what you need the system to do (multi core apps for example or just internet / gamming) and how much you want to clock it
