Hi all

I am looking to build myself a new computer, however, as it has been years since I have built a new machine I am unsure as to what the best hardware is these days. I have a rough spec of what I must have in the computer. Please see below:

  • Intel Core i7
  • 6GB DDR3 Ram
  • SSD Drive
  • 1TB drive Sata
  • Audigy sound card
  • P183 case

I realise it is possible to overlcock the 2.66 ghz i7 to 3.6 ghz which motherboard is best for this?

Thanks in advance.

What sort of budget are we looking at here.?

Os do you intend on running.?

Do you just need the base unit, monitor.? If you have one what res.?

And what do you want to be able to do with your new computer.?

Hi guys,

Sorry forgot to add this information. Would like the gfx card to be the 4870 x2. No requirement for monitor etc. The computer will mainly be used for gaming, coding, movies and general web browsing.

Thanks for all the help

Get a gigabyte UD5, excellent board
PSU wise look at something by Corsair, Bequiet, Zalman or Coolermaster, in the 700+ range more like 850+ if youre thinking of crossfiring 2 of those cards at a later date
