New build advice

Ok so my current PC just died, now I need some new parts.

So far Iam curretly looking at the Q6600 CPU:

What benefits does quad core offer over dual core? is it worth the extra?

I also need a new mobo and RAM to go with the above, my budget for these is £150.

What are you wanting to use the computer for? If its purely gaming then quad is actually a drawback due to lower clock speeds. If youre looking at a 775 sytem then Id recomend an asus P5Q Pro mob and 4 gig of 8500 RAM, if its just gaming get the similarly priced E8400, if however youre doing encoding/editing then yeah a quad will be useful. though imo Id look at a new AM3 set up

also if your going to be overclocking it you will need an aftermarket cooler...

the p5q pro mobo is a good mobo to overclock with so its worth getting a good cooler to get the max out of your equipment.

I dont really game on the pc just use it for web browsing, work, movies, music etc
Dont plan on overclocking either.
