I am going to be building a new pc (for the first time!) in the not too distance future, so I am after a bit of advice. I have an idea of components I would like, but being a novice, am hoping that people will be able to advise as to whether I should be looking at other components instead, if i have forgot something etc. It will be used for everything, up to and including, gaming, and I will be looking to overclock it in the future.

CPU: Core i7 920 D0
RAM: 6GB Corsair XMS3 PC3-12800
Mobo: Asus Rampage II Extreme
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
Hard Disk 1: 500GB Western Digital Caviar Black
Hard Disk 2: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black
Graphics Card: 896MB nVidia Geforce GTX260
Optical Drive: ??? just not blu-ray
Sound Card: ???
Case: Antec 902
PSU: OCZ ModXStream 700W Pro Silent
Cooler: Prolimatech Megahalems
Monitor: BenQ 24" G2420HD

any recommendations, advice etc gratefully received :)

Ars seem to think there's not much in it for Optical drives. The rest look great. Decided no SSD ?

"DVD burners have been a commodity items for years. The best of the breed generally isn't too different from the rest, and all of the major players are pretty good. This includes the Optiarc AD-7240S, LG GN22NS50, Pioneer DVR-218L, etc. We'd buy whatever's cheapest of the major name brands and not worry about it. "
