Hi guys my brother is in need of upgrading, and needs to build a full new system.
His budget is £800-£1000. He will be using the system for gaming/ watching blu-ray and general use. We'll be buying a new monitor which will probably be the Dell UltraSharp U2410 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor [860-10089]: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-036-DE

Any help would be really appreciated as we want to order before the 1st of Jan, Cheers guys.

No, sorry I wasn't clear on that, it's £800-1000 for the system. The parts he needs are:
Case, PSU, Motherboard, CPU, Ram blu-ray drive and a 1Tb Hard Drive.

Because its a "green". Slower transfer rates to save power.

What you want for a system drive is a Caviar Blue, or Black.

Green is good for a storage drive that isn't accessed often, as it spins slowly when its only being accessed a bit.

RAM fail too. From what i've heard (and experienced), Gigabyte motherboards don't seem to like OCZ RAM for some reason. I'd go for the Corsair XMS3

That's a first for me, I have had a Gigabyte P35C-DS3R since August 07, started off with 2x1GB OCZ memory for about 2 years and now I have 2x2GB OCZ memory and never had any problem with them working together. Although, I have to admit I have not done any overclocking, so if you are referring to that I do apologize for butting in! :o

Ive never heard of any issues with gigabyte boards and ocz, though asus and ocz used to be a very bad combination, thankfully this seems to have changed though.

Hey guys thanks for the replies. My brother was intending to lean more towards the £1000 mark.

This is the spec that he was looking at:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-003-OB £699.99 inc VAT
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-209-AS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1403 £157.99[/url] inc VAT
Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black £39.99

Pioneer BDC-S03XLB 8x BD-Reader / 16x DVD±RW Drive - Black (Retail) £89.99

Its a bit over budget but if you could give me any advice, would be cool.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. As I don't have much experience in overclocking or fitting seperate cpu coolers, I was wondering whether getting the overclocked bundle that I listed earlier would be the right way to go?
