Evening everyone,

I've been out the loop for a long time now and need a quick update on whats hot and whats not! I need to build a machine for the parents-in-law and really don't know where to start really...I have not looked since I built my machine when the Q6600 was the top of the pile :)

As with everything I do, I like to spend time researching everything before making a purchase, but I don't have time for that this time. I need to build the PC asap and preferably order it this evening when I come home from work.

Budget is negotiable, but i think around the 700-800 euro is where I would like to be. Few notes on PC use:

- The computer will NOT be used for gaming.
- Mainly Photoshop and lots of other photo editting work (photography nut!)
- general stuff, emails, browsing.
- Win7 please

No monitor, keyboard or mouse needed. Don't really care about a flash case, something practical and lightweight would be a bonus although not significant.

I hate to ask for help like this, but my wife recently had an accident and can no longer walk so a lot of my time is devoted to caring for her and trying to run my business. Ontop of that, I want to keep the inlaws happy and need to pull this off now as I pursuaded them to let me build one for them rather than spend stupid money on another DELL machine.

After a very brief look, the i5 750 looked like a nice CPU, but I'll see what everyone esle can recommend. Thanks all, much love :):D

Sorry to hear about your wife mate, that's pretty rough.

Like you said i5 750 would be the way to go, a system based around one of these would last them ages so you wouldn't have to build them another computer for a while.

Here's what I came up with:

Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz £169.99

G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3
PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £93.99

MSI P55-CD53 Intel P55 DDR3 Motherboard £93.99

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit £82.99

Coolermaster Sileo 500 Silent Case - Black £65.99

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II £65.99

Club 3D ATI Radeon 4650 1024MB
GDDR2 Heatpipe PCI-Express Graphics Card £53.99

Corsair CX 400W ATX Power Supply £39.99

Pioneer DVR-S18L 22x DVD±RW £18.99

You can change the case, I thought it would be good because of the soundproofing. Also, you may not need such a powerful gpu but I put it in there because it is passively cooled.
