Looking for a fairly basic and average build, I already have a Case and 8GB Memory from when I was previously planning on putting a build together but never had the time.
(I have the Xigmatek Asgard Pro Gaming Case and G.Skill RipJaws (2x4GB))

Ideally I would just like a computer capable of running real fast and smooth and able to edit/render easily enough and play some games at ok settings but nothing serious. I'm currently upgrading from an Intel Celeron 900 2.2GHz laptop which I've had for a fair few year and its beginning to struggle! P.S I won't be overclocking.

Need; Processor, Motherboard, GPU, SSD, HDD, PSU, CD/DVD Drive.

If I wont be overclocking does it matter which motherboard chipset I have?

Preferring budget is around 300-400 mark but can push 500 if needed.

Yep:

What is your budget?
What case do you have?
What 8GB memory do you have?
What are you editing/rendering?
What games do you play?
Do you wish to play blu-ray using the PC?
How much storage do you need (if you are doing allot of editing/rendering)?
Have you got an OS or looking to upgrade that at this time also?

These are important to get the best build for yourself. From this we should be able to narrow down quickly and effectively what would suit you best.

Hope that helps.

Kind Regards,

Adam
