Hey guys,

My laptop is about to give up the ghost and rather than shell out for a new laptop of not so great spec im sure i can see similar if not better performance from a mini-itx build of some form? correct??

my budget is as cheap as humanly possible, but i want something that will blow this laptop out the water which im using, which is windows xp OS, intel atom N270 1.6ghz, 1 gb ram and a 140gb hard drive space split between 2 drives.

I already have a top end gaming machine which some of you may recall so no need for anything gaming related or even as fast so no need for SSD.

What I want is something small and sleek looking preferable white but will settle for black.

Its uses really is going to be for skype, internet browsing, youtube/video streaming, itunes etc.

Ideally would like a cpu with several cores for multi-tasking. I'm leaning towards AMD for this one purely for price and the fact no gaming what so ever is getting done on this machine and no overclocking either.

And i need everything for its apart from a monitor and keyboard, so i need a case, mobo, cpu, ram, psu, OS, budget mouse (possibly wireless {aslong as its rechargeable}) and a decent webcam for skype.

Only thing that is a must is the MOBO must have optical output for the sound.

Let me know what you guys recommend, like I say price wise needs to be as cheap as possible on this one as im on a very limited budget.

thanks :)

Even that looks way overkill for what I need really, just looking for a cheap as chips work horse for streaming music and videos and skype really to replace my laptop.

Was hoping I could possibly get something cheaper than that as thats laptop money.

I think Idleman has nailed it, yet again, your a legend :) one and only thing is there another mobo for not much more that has optical sound output??

And Ripjaw i looked at those pre-built ones and although they are ideal, I want something to do one afternoon, so a build log can keep me entertained :)
