Hi, I'm looking to start building a new PC for gaming mostly but later for creative and design reasons.
I did build a PC 10 years ago so Im not oblivious to the idea but am a bit out of the loop these days, my most recent rig was pre built.
I've been looking in to components and have a rough idea. I just want to run it past people who will know more than I do. Should I make adjustments for maybe future proofing or if the components are over kill.

the build...

CPU - Intel core i9 10900X extreme (3.7ghz)
( I know 11th Gen is coming soonish but from what I understand they are compatible with z490? please correct me if that's wrong. I'm also open to Changing to AMD as from what I understand their performance is a lot stronger these days)

MOBO - Asus ROG Maximus XII Hero (wifi)
CPU cooler - Corsair H100i Pro
Storage - Samsung 960 1TB
Samsung 860 1TB
Memory -Corsair Vengence PRO RGB 32gb (2x16)
PSU - Corsair RM 650W

GPU will be a 3080 when more readily available. currently have a 2070 super so will just use that if the 3080 isn't available when built.

things like Monitor, keyboard+mouse will be decided later

recommendations for cases would also be grateful. My current setup has a Corsair crystal series 570X, would probably like something similar.

All advice and Input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I was just looking at those new AMD chips. yeah I think it may wait a bit and see. I was looking forward too the 3080 but i guess ill have to look in to these 'Big Navi' cards

Ok if I do go intel ill get a cheaper CPU and also bump up PSU

Case looks great will definitely get that.

thank you for the advice

You could fit a nice 360mm aio in that case especially if you go for the 10900k.

Fans if you don't go rgb the arctic p12 pwm are excellent value.

AMD basically had Intel beaten for creativity uses already with Zen2 and Zen3 likely beats those overclocked 6th gen Skylake rebrandings also in single core.
Because of AMD actually lowering prices of older models you could laso later upgrade to 16 core at reasonable price if necessary.
All Intel has against that 16 cores is 8 cores in that 11th gen.
For motherboard £210 MSI X570 Tomahawk is very good.

In case of Intel you would also need beefiest possible cooler for multicore loads, because TDPs are basically marketing lies.
Meaning instead of fashion brands in waterpipe coolers you would want somathing like Arctic Freezer II with actually beefy radiator.

Nvidia's availability is such bad with Jensen himself basically confirming there's no firm idea of better availability, that AMD's RDNA2 cards might be in shops before that.

Samsung SSDs are all more or less badly brand overpriced.
For example that SATA drive is 2/3rds of the price of 2TB Adata SX8200 Pro.

Because of very wasteful internal use of space that very undynamic Lian Li is very limited in different cooling options.
Your current Corsair actually offers lot more versatility in that.
