Im planing to upgrade shortly to a 7800x3d paired with a 9070 xt as these gpus seem to be the sweetspot atm however the motherboard choice is a bit less clear, B850 or x870?
Max i want to spend is approx £180 or less on mbo so have been looking at Msi B850 GAMING PLUS wifi and Gigabyte x870 eagle wifi however the Cinebench marks for Eagle are bottom of rankings done on hwunboxed.
Would this make a real world difference for gaming?
Any other mbos to consider? Should i rule out Asrock as i may want to upgrade to a 9000 series in the future?

The main reason to buy x870 is USB4, if you don't care about that then B850 is fine.

Note that the B850 Gaming Plus doesn't have lots of rear USB 3.x ports, but it does have USB Type-C.

however the Cinebench marks for Eagle are bottom of rankings done on hwunboxed.

No, this is not important.

Vrm temps quite abit higher on b850 to gb x870? For future upgrades to 9800x3d >>?
Are you referring to HUB's testing? That's after 1 hour of Cinebench with a 16 core CPU, so there's really zero concern for me.

You'd need a low-end board (less than £150, probably £100 or less) to be at a serious danger of throttling the 9800X3D when gaming.

The 10800X3D (or whatever it will be called) is expected to have 12 cores, in which case there's more of a risk, but a midrange B850 like Asus TUF-Plus or MSI Tomahawk would fix that.
