Hello,

Hoping to put my system together tomorrow, asus A8N32-SLI dlx, Opty 170, x1900xtx etc.. My first AMD setup so a bit nervous. Any tips on installation welcome. Assuming everything posts ok, I intend to update the bios with the ezflash option, then install XP pro... what next, chipset drivers?, Athlon64 processor driver, Graphics driver?, suggestions welcome. Also what utils should I install 1. from the motherboard disc ie cool & quiet, probe etc.
2. for performing overclocking, stress test, temp monitor etc.

Hi!

I'd only update the BIOS if you need to - ie if the processor isn't correctly detected.

First off I'd install windows then the service packs (if required). Next I'd install the chipset driver (very important) then the X2 processor fix. After that I'd install graphics and sound

I'd personally keep Cool & Quiet off but turn on Q-Fan in the BIOS - this varies the speed of your processor fan depending on temperature and it can keep your PC quiet.

The ASUS temperature utilities can be handy to keep an eye on temps - MBM (Motherboard Monitor) 5 is another good one

CPU-Z is a handy utility for information on your CPU

Use Prime 95, Super PI and OCCT for stress testing
