All the parts are compatible is the good news at least. I would however suggest spending a little bit more to get a 965P based motherboard such as the Gigabyte DS3P as it is a better overall motherboard and would also overclock further.

I assume your brother isn't a gamer then based on the graphics card?
 
no it won't be used for any gaming at all.

He's general use would be:

Web browsing
Movie playback
Video editing/encoding

can't think what else he uses it for?

opps, He's Ipod :D
 
The graphics card is fine for general use, he could get away with less if he really wanted to but given the price I don't think I'd suggest it. There isn't too much money to be saved overall. :)
 
He's just looking to replace he's 1.5 P4 so this should be alittle change if performace for him :D
