New build aiming for 4-4.2ghz

Hi, can you help me with an i5 2500k build that I am hoping to put together.

I have the ram already(8gb kinston hyper genisis) but need a mobo and 60gb ish ssd. I am aiming for at least 4ghz and maybe 4.2. Would the standard hsf be ok for 4 ghz or should I get an aftermarket one?

Ive had the gigabyte z68 ud3 recommended and I really don't think I'll need a premium board that would cost the earth so that might be ok for my needs.

Please excuse any spelling mistakes I'm typing this on an iPad which isn't the best for me to use!

Hmmm. I understand that it doesn't make the mobo but I just fancied having a bitof a play but it they only come on the most expensive ones I'll probably have to consider what you posted stulid.

Will I need an after Market hsf like the hyper 212 to hit 4ghz?
 
The stock item is good for 4GHz, Anandtech+Guru3D used it to go even higher, but it seems a bit much to me, either the 212+ or Gelid Tranquillo are bargain performers.

What case do you have? a Hyper212+ is a bit tall so you need to make sure the side panel will fit back on the case.
 
Budget is around 430 but that must include a copy of windows 7 (oem should be fine). I'm still on xp

My case is an old coolermaster midi tower which should be big enough but I'm hoping to downsize a bit later on when I have some more cash.

Maybe I don't need a z68 as I have a 6950 so how about a p67?
 
Z68 has more features even if you use them or not.

And the ability to use the onboard GFX core of the CPU if you have a graphics card problem or sell the card, you can still use the PC for simple tasks.
