Considering that they advertise AM3+ compatibly on the box (as well as all adverts on various online retailers), which it isn't, then I think they are at fault.
I've emailed them back, if that fails I will call them again and ask to be contacted by a manager. Its unacceptable that they expect the user to be able to fix a fault with their product. They should have recalled low revision motherboards for updating or shipped updated bios chips to their distributors for inclusion in sales.
Where the hell am I supposed to find a AM3 chip to ''borrow''.
It is confusing. I ALWAYS check the manufacturers website for the product first. No offence but sometimes the details on the OCuk website are spartan to say the least and i frequently notice typos. Most important of all is to check CPU compatibility. It will state what CPUs work and what BIOS revision is needed for it to work. It's safe to assume you will get the earliest BIOS.
I would suggest getting in contact with OCuk. It might be wise to return the whole mobo bundle for testing (CPU,mobo and RAM) just to be sure. See what they suggest, hope it sorted for you soon
P.S
Nice pics! Very tidy looking build, look forward to seeing it complete
