Hi guys,

Been lurking for a bit and wanted to finally find out the best build for a desktop high-end gaming machine that could easily pull off ultra settings on any game out at the moment and due to come out in the future. The longer the build lasts without upgrading, the better.

I have a budget of £1500, but because I'm a beginner and have little knowledge of parts and components, I don't know what the best bang for my buck is. This is what I have at the moment, and if its possible to get a monitor crammed in there, it would be awesome. I also might do some light video editing on it at some point.

CPU Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core £244.94

CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing £25.44

Thermal Compound Noctua NT-H1 3.5g £7.63

Motherboard Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 £143.84

Memory G.Skill Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 £139.99

Storage Crucial MX100 512GB 2.5" SSD £149.98

Video Card MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V £280.00

MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V £280.00

Case Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower £88.07

Power Supply EVGA 650W ATX12V / EPS12V £63.31

Optical Drive Asus BW-16D1HT Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer £63.56

Sound Card Asus Xonar DX £57.60

Wireless Network Adapter TP-Link TL-WDN4800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 £26.39

Keyboard Cooler Master CM Storm Quick Fire TK £77.98

Total: £1648.73

Appreciate the help!

Wow thanks guys, much appreciated!

@Doomedspeed The sound card isn't necessary if you reckon it'll kick out something good at default. So long as it's a gaming beast, I'm happy :)

@stulid Thanks for the suggestion, dude. Definitely get one of those.

I'm not entirely confident setting up the water-cooling, but if it's mandatory from the get-go, I'll make a go of it. Thanks again!

EDIT: Just wondering if getting a full tower would be more beneficial in terms of air flow and space? I don't mind shelling out a bit more for something of similar appearance and larger if it's more feasible for this build?

Thanks for the help dude. I'm currently finalising my order. Just wondering if getting two GTX 970's would be better than one or is it not necessary yet? I'd much rather get both if having two could maximise performance if its totally noticeable?
