Just put together the rig in my sig below and I an getting a little frustrated with it.

following install I was keen to see what futuremark 3D06 score it would generate...but on the first test screen (the one where the robot destroys the flight deck) the screen goes black and locks up.

I thought this could have something to do with old Dirext X as it asked to install 2005 version for some of the tests to work correctly?? Anyone else get this ??

Then Last night after about 8 hours of Prime, Go at 3.0 GHz, windows popped up stating that the programme (SP24) has encountered an error and will now close. SP24 still had the green icon so I guessed it wasn't a serious fault ?

The second dialogue box that popped up straight after was from the nVidia control centre stating that my Graphics card has not got the correct or enough power and has been throttled back for safety

Brand new Enermax Galaxy PSU, using the correct lead / connector (6 pin) nicely seated in the PCI-e 2.0 slot?? WTF??

Anyway, I tried Bioshock and I get as far as the intro, the plane wreck, the FPS is awful and its choppy (didn't think it would be given the spec) then the screen corrupts and it hangs, needs a reset to get out of it. I have tried this many times now and the same each time.

What have I done ?
OR is it just Vista 64 Ultima playing up ?

I have also reverted back to stock everything and it still does it.

Please help, I am on the verge of tearing £1200 worth of components apart....AAARRGGHHHHHH:(

Update: Changed from current nVidia drivers back to the ones in the Gigabyte 8800GT box and all working fine!!

Not tried Futuremark 3D06 yet though

I was using the latest drivers as downloaded from the nVidia webby last night.

I have since reverted to the ones that came in the box and it seems to be ok.
Although I have just completed the 3d Mark 06 test with the processor at 3.0 GHz and it came out as 7694 ??

Considering this list :

Cheers for the replies guys, I have posted on that forum too ;)

Yes, I agree, I should think I would be getting close to 13K in 3d Mark 06....seems to be stock at around 50% of what it should be ??

but with the drivers that came with the card, the system is at least stable and Bioshock will play, along with 3Dmark 06.

I have read the manual and if I move the single card to 2nd slot it will only run at x4 ??

The thing is, when I use the later nvidia drivers, the control panel system info, clearly shows it x16 but they are not stable drivers for me, 3dMark crashes and re boots, Bioshock loads, is very jerky FPS then crashes, with corrupted Screen.

I might try to look at installing Win XP Pro, perhaps its the vista Drivers ?
