New build and problems with Graphic Card

I've built another Q6600 this time using air cooling. I have it running nice and stable at 3.12GHz but from a cold boot I often get 1 long and 3 short beeps (VGA not found). I have tried 3 graphics cards in this PC and only one will work flawlessly with the BIOS settings below, that's an XFX 8800GT. The HD48702 X2 2GB and HD4870 1GB cards both cause the graphics card error. Here is the full setup:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Kentsfield G0 SLACR
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Asus P5kE-Wifi AP BIOS 1202
4GB Corsair Dominator DDR2 (Twin2X4096-8500C5D)
ENERMAX INFINITI 720 EIN720AWT-01 PSU
2x1TB Internal Drives
1x1TB External Drive
1xDVD-Rom
1xDVD-Writer
1xFront mounted Card Reader
USB Printer
USB Scanner

The PSU is certified for the HD4870 but not the HD4870X2.

Any ideas what may be causing this GC problem?

Cheers,

No one else has replied so thought I would
Firstly have you tried clearing to default bios settings, do you get the same error still?
If you still get the error then do the cards work in other MB's? If yes then its prob MB, if no then the card, either way RMA the faulty component
If it does work on default BIOS settings then theres obviously some slight instability in your OC, maybe the ATI is more sensitive than the NVidia, you could try playing about with your voltages to get it to work, your DRAM voltage should be set manually anyway, whatever your vendors specified voltage is (2.1 I looked it up) DRAM is the main area MB's undervolt. Is that the lowest your SB will go? if not lower it to its lowest setting, shouldnt affect stability really but no point putting more volts through than you need. Then the 2 you need to tweak are your NB and CPU voltage. Have you tried running a stability program when you had the 8800 in? Id recomend starting your CPU voltage at slightly above whatever CPU-z rates it at, and your NB around 1.35, see where that gets you

Thanks 95thrifles I was beginning to wonder ;) I've managed to test both cards in a friends machine and they work fine. I have also put a new Be Quiet! 1200W PSU in my PC and the same problem exists. I have upped the NB voltage and tweaked a few others and I can now get it to boot but I have to reset the bios settings following each cold boot (On boot up I get an error message saying something along the lines of the overclocking settings failed, press F1 to change them etc.) To be honest I may look at replacing my mobo in the near future.
