Do you need a new licence key everytime you change CPU/MOBO/GPU?

I was under the assumption the key was tied to an account and name rather than a hardware setup.

Windows 10. Although I’ve not gone through with my build yet. Just heard about this limitation elsewhere. A new licence would be a cost that needs to be factored in.

My windows 10 pro licence is tied to my MS account. When I updated my PC lately it just needed to be reactivated over the internet.

This is the first time I've had to do it when i got my new system with windows 10.
