Ok im looking to upgrade my PC and thought this owuld be a decent set up, anyone got anything they would have instead (budget of around £400) better Motherboard? better CPU? is the ram ok? Id be looking to overclock to 4GHz.

If you're going to be using air cooling then that ram will not fit under the cooler - so you'll only have 2ram slots rather than 4, could be rritating for potential upgrades.

I would swap the either XMS3 or GeIL PC3-12800C9.

There are better boards than the UD4 as well, the MSI P67A-GD55 does everything the ASUS does (ok, you loose a couple PCI slots and one PCI-E x4 slot - but you can't put a graphics card in that anyway :p) for a cheaper price

Second spec is much better.

Agree with Cookeh
Pointless getting SB and not overclocking!

No point getting the Core i5 - 2500K unless you plan to overclock in which case you need a decent CPU cooler.

If you plan to never overclock get the Core i5 - 2500 and save some dosh.

Personally I would buy retail over oem as you get longer warranty.

Yeah going to overclock of course, so the OEM cooler is no good for that then? even for just 4GHz?

If so whats a decent cooler for a decent overclock?

Nope, not if you want to keep temperatures below 92 degrees :p

Decent coolers? Well, a Gelid Tranquillo will see you to 4.6GHz with decent temps. Recommended by CustomPC and Bit-tech.

There are plenty of decent coolers around, it comes down to your personal preferences really.

Things to consider:
How much are you going to overclock?
Are the lowest temperatures really important to you?
Is noise a major factor?
Do you what to keep all your RAM slots clear?

Suggest you take a look at the sites that review coolers, there are quite a few!
Start with Bit-tech, Kitguru,Vortez, Hardwareheaven

You can't overclock the i5 2500, you need the i5 2500K.

Ever heard of a typo?

I think he meant to say K otherwise he wouldn't have said overclock - everyone on this forum probably knows on K can be overclocked so cut people some slack.

OP, the Venom is a very good cooler and there are a good few dozen people on this forum that use them. I -think- (because haven't seen many benchmarks of the Venom) that the Venom is the better cooler - seems like it on paper, but there is ofc the price premium.
