Hello,

I got some helpful information in terms of what to look out for in a new build. I am trying to future proof for several years. I do a lot of gaming, but also need storage for entertainment. I've tweaked budget - do this look a good set up?

Any thoughts - or things I've missed? It comes in at nearly £2,600 - so wouldn't mind some expert eyes before I pull the trigger. Thanks in advace.

Should say needs it to have WiFi and bluetooth. I'm struggling to find mention of Bluetooth..
WIFI and Bluetooth are normally together in modern motherboards. In other words, if it has WIFI, it has Bluetooth.

But, I can't see mention of a specific motherboard model, so it is not possible to check.

There's a small possibility that OCUK add WIFI through a third party card, rather than the motherboard. In which case, I can't be 100% sure what you'll get, even though those WIFI cards usually have Bluetooth too.

USB dongles, they're often one OR the other, not both. I can't imagine OCUK would offer you WIFI through this method, unless motherboard stock was REALLY dire.

It notes this as the motherboard - X870 ATX DDR5 WIFI Motherboard - so Wifi looks fine. I've seen other builds specifically mention Bluetooth under 'Network' - this just says "2.5Gb LAN, WIFI6E"

There are hardly any X870 boards without integrated WIFI (& BT alongside it), so I think you'd be very unlucky to get one without, where OCUK add WIFI (and not BT) through another means.

If there's an option to add a note with the order, I'd just add that you require Bluetooth.

Appreciate that, thank you. Do you have any thoughts about the build? Not sure if this is something you are comfortable with. I think it looks pretty solid, but don't want to miss something obvious!

It is hard to comment on prebuild prices if you don't track them (I don't), especially right now with RAM prices out of control and SSDs following them up.

From what I can see though, it looks reasonable.

If mickyflinn's suggestion is only £100 more for otherwise the same spec, but with a 5080, then that's something I'd strongly consider because the 5080 is a faster card.

Just taken a quick look at that. Only has 2TB storage and I fill that too easily. Once I bump it to 4TB, it sits at £2700. Is the 5080 much better than the 9070XT?
S0 the difference is £100 for a 5080 where it's £400 separately , which seems a no brainer.

The motherboard in that build is b650 but good enough .

I appreciate the feedback. I read up a little about cards and the 9070XT got very good results, so focused on that. But I have done some reading regards 5080 and see your point. If I tweaked it and could replace the motherboard with something a bit better, do you have any recommendations? All the 5080 builds I see have a higher rated (?) motherboard and I don't want to high end everything else and leave myself short there. I am not sure what the impact would be.

If you're worried about performance, so long as the motherboard has a sufficient VRM for the task, there's only a margin of error difference between them. Feature set will differ somewhat, but it depends on the board(s) OCUK use, which are not specified.

If you really want to go x870 motherboard ask Overclockers what options there are and how much more it would cost.

Firstly, thank you for those who have posted and helped. It is appreciated. I've taken on aboard what people have suggested and tweaked some aspects based on a few other views. This was built with components in stock. The cooling looks ok to me. The 2x2TB drives seem to be ok? Have I missed/messed up anything?!
