Hi, i've just started looking to build a new gaming rig, my current pc is a bit of a dinosaur.

First of all, the config I had in mind :

Coolermaster CM690 Case
Asus P5QC Motherboard
Core 2 Quad Q9450
MSI GTX280 650Mhz/2.3Ghz
Coolermaster 620W Modular PSU
2x Pioneer DVDRW Drives
2x Western Digital 2500AAKS HDD 250Gb, 7200RPM
4Gb Corsair Value PC-5300 667MHz DDR2 (I already have 2Gb)
Vista Home Basic

I plan to use the stock heatsink for a while, i'll be saving for DDR3 and a Zalman CNPS9700, then I plan to overclock.
I realise the RAM is a bottleneck but i'll be paying £20 for 4Gb, as I already have half of it, it's simply a quick fix.

While i'm on the subject of RAM, I know that a 32 bit OS can only address a certain amount (which varies depending on your setup), I did a lot of searching around on forums, and saw a few people say that although it's not being addressed, it will still get utilized, any views on this?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

ati give better value for money for now
a fast dual core is better for games at the moment, few games use more then 2 cores
320GB HDDs over 250 as they arent a lot more.
4gb of high speed ddr2 ram for you to use to overclock you pc

xp won't address more than 3gb of your memory, no matter how much you have. get vista 64 bit and you'll be fine.
and +1 for getting 1066mhz over 667mhz.

It'll be used for games mainly, dvd's and music, not a lot else, basically I have an absolute max budget of a grand.

The only reason I opted for Quad core was because I was thinking in the long term for things slowly being designed to use them, and also the only reason I was gonna stick with 667mhz DDR2 is because i've got 2 gigs of it ready to whack straight in.
